James Hill

This scholarship seeks to award a student who dares to further their education to reach their dream. James Hill, a member of Next Generation Christian Church and scholarship sponsor, wants to encourage students to make a difference for themselves and their community by “daring to dream”.
 
Scholarship Committee: Chair Selinda Keyes, Dr. Willie J. Brown, Pastor Wendy Campbell, James Hill and Dr. Aloma Wallace.

Scholarship Requirements:

  • High school graduate who is a member of NGCC for at least a year.
  • Preferred Qualification: Mid-Year Cumulative GPA 3.0 or higher; or
  • Minimum Qualification: Mid-Year Cumulative GPA 2.5-2.99
  • Acceptance and enrollment in a post-secondary school (college or 2-year technical school).
  • Will start attending by this Fall Semester.

One-Time Scholarship Award:

A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded based on the following qualifications: 3.0 and above Mid-year Cumulative GPA, Essay and Interview Scores.
 
Should no applicant meet the 3.0 Mid-Year Cumulative GPA, a $700 scholarship will be awarded based on the following qualifications: 2.5 – 2.99 Mid-Year Cumulative GPA, Essay and Interview Scores.

Application Process:

NGCC’s Dare to Dream Scholarship was inspired by Mr. James Hill and founded in 2024 under the leadership of Senior Pastor Dr. Willie Brown.

The purpose of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to graduating seniors who are pursuing a post-secondary education to achieve their professional career aspirations. Mr. James Hill desires to encourage students to make a difference for themselves and their community by daring to dream. “Every great dream begins with a dreamer.” ~Author Unknown

This scholarship is a $1,000 one-time award.

  • Complete the scholarship application form.
  • Attach a copy of your Mid-Year Cumulative GPA (report card or transcript).
  • Attach copy of acceptance/enrollment letter from post-secondary school (college or 2-year technical school)
  • Attach 400–600 word essay with word count. (typed, double spaced, 1-inch margins, 12-point font)

The essay should:

  • Address the role faith played in your academic and non-academic accomplishments.
  • Express how faith has influenced your choice of a major course of study and career.
  • As you "dare to dream" of a future career, how will you help others?
Complete a 30-minute personal interview which will be scheduled later.

Important Dates:

Application Window: Monday, April 27, 2026 – Tuesday, May 26, 2026
 
Winner Announced: Sunday, June 14, 2026
